CERTIFIED COPIES
Commonly known as Certified True Copies or CTC
Many situations require people living in China to get a certified copy of a document to use abroad. Certified copies are commonly required when making important purchases, opening investment accounts or obtaining certain government services. A certified copy of almost any type of document can be made.
OVERVIEW
Many situations require people living in China to get a certified copy of an original document (such as a passport, diploma, bank statement or proof of address) to use abroad. Certified copies are commonly required when buying real estate, applying for a mortgage, opening an investment account, buying a car or accessing government services.
The documents being certified can be Chinese or international (i.e.: a British passport or a German diploma) so long as the original can be provided for verification. (Only original documents we have sighted can be certified. Photocopies, scans and print-outs cannot be certified by our office. Some digital documents can be certified by special arrangement.)
Medical exam applicants: Physicians requiring certified documents for the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) must attend our office in-person for ID verification. This is a strict requirement of the MCC and cannot be avoided.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
We offer two methods for having certified copies made: in-person or by post. After reviewing your originals, our lawyers will make the copies and perform the necessary certification. This is handled either same-day or next-day.
If you are not in Shanghai, you can courier your documents to us and we will do the certification then securely send everything back to you by tracked delivery. Please be sure to contact us before sending your documents.
If the certified copies are going to someone in another country, we can courier the completed documents directly to them by FedEx or DHL.
